Reiki in Japan

Japan has not legislated the practice and teaching of Reiki. There is no official body approving the teaching and practice of the discipline by the Ministry of National Education. It is not taught at university or in a higher education school.

The most famous Reiki in the world is Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. It was organized and marketed by a descendant of Samurai, Mr. Mikao Usui.

What survives in Japan is the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, a society closed to the public, particularly discreet and yet active in matters of Reiki throughout the world. This organization preserves Reiki as it was at its origin.
