Reiki in England

England has not yet legislated on the practice and teaching of Reiki. Some colleges teach the practice of Reiki. Some federations ensuring the promotion, transparency and ethics in Reiki exist, including the UK Reiki Federation. Reiki is recognized in practice as a profession, practitioners are hired under contract by hospitals such as those part of the National Health Service (NHS), a public healthcare network in the United Kingdom. It is similar to the French social security system.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, under common law, any unqualified person, i.e. not a doctor, can practice therapy provided they do not claim to be a medical doctor.
Reiki practitioners are hired as employees in certain hospitals and hospital institutions.
